Songs are magical things: some fall suddenly from the ether, others are a slow labour of love.
Universally however, they’re inspired from personal experiences and observations of life.
In reverence of such alchemy, Delsinki presents “Sing a Song of Sixpence” – which brings the tradition of a writer’s round to audiences: artists sharing the bare bones of their songs and the stories behind them in an intimate setting.
Abby Dobson – Hugely successful Australian singer /songwriter A founding member of the hugely successful band, Leonardo’s Bride, who garnered many accolades; their chart-topping song, ‘Even When I’m Sleeping’, winning APRA ‘Song of the Year’ and later voted as one of the APRA ‘Top 20 Australian Songs of All Time’. A founding member of the hugely successful band, Leonardo’s Bride
Grim Fawkner – Rambling man, Grim Fawkner, is no stranger to stages and streets across the globe and at home. The epitome of the itinerant musician, he draws together tales and musings from his travels and is as likely to deliver them in soft ballad form as he is face-meltingly intricate and upbeat roots/country/blues.
Freya Josephine Hollick – is Cosmic country and melancholia. It’s a little like Bill Callahan meets Dolly Parton but then again, it’s something else altogether. Bursting onto the scene in 2016 with her debut The Unceremonious Junking of Me immediately garnering praise for her unique and captivating voice as well as her sophisticated songwriting.
She has since toured with Justin Townes Earle, C.W. Stoneking, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats & Tex Perkins among others and played numerous festivals including Out on the Weekend, St Kilda Festival, Boogie, Tamworth & The Festival of Voices.
Delsinki – What do the ACO, Jim Moginie from Midnight Oil, Steve Pigram from the Pigram Brothers, Brian Ritchie from the Violent Femmes, Richard Tognetti, cinematographer Jon Frank and astounding indigenous musician “Yamatji Man” Mark Atkins have in common? DELSINKI has joined creative forces with them all.
Jamie MacDowell is a lyric-focussed singer/songwriter/guitarist. Over the last four years, Jamie has blended his Funk, Roots, and hip-hop influences into his own brand of acoustic rhythm and word
Accompaniment – Cam McKenzie (Mark Seymour & the Undertow)
