Named after the classic vacuum tubes that give electric guitar amplifiers their warm, explosive bite, Willie J’s 6V6s live up to the name. Led by the commanding vocals and jagged guitar work of powerhouse frontman Willie J Maxwell (formerly of Loser and Willie J & The Bad Books), the trio delivers a tight, heavy-riffing performance built around classic rock attitude with a sharp modern Australian edge. Ably backed by Sebastian Robertson laying down heavy basslines and Callum Leavey driving the engine room on drums, the band has quickly forged a reputation as a must-see live act.
In just over two years of tearing up the scene, they’ve already shared stages with rock royalty and heavyweight touring acts including Wolfmother, Rose Tattoo, Sebastian Bach, and The Datsuns.
